A small lake near Charlotte, Mountain Island Lake is 10 miles NW of "Uptown". There is a public landing available for non-residents provided by Duke Energy. Some of these properties are in Mecklenburg County (Charlotte) and some in Gaston County (Mount Holly).
The neighborhoods below have been chosen because they are waterfront communities and provide an atmosphere of being on or near the water. Waterfront, waterview, and interior lots and homes can be found in each. Some communities have marinas and deeded boat slips for their residents.
