One of the smaller lakes near Charlotte, Lake Tillery, 30 miles east of "Uptown", has a scenic backdrop from a small mountain range called the Uwharrie Mountains. With it's own history and scenic views of the Pee Dee River, Lake Tillery is a restful respite from the urban living of Charlotte. The Uharrie State Park offers a beach area and boat rental as well as walking trails.  A drive to the top of Morrow Mountain State Park will provide a panaramic view all the way to Charlotte.

The neighborhoods below have been chosen because they are waterfront communities and provide an atmosphere of being on or near the water.  Waterfront, waterview, and interior lots and homes can be found in each.  Some communities have marinas and deeded boat slips for their residents.  Others have lake access or ramps as well as storage areas for the boating enthusiasts.
