Charlotte, the "Queen City" of the South, was recently named as the #1 city to live in for relocating to a better life and opportunity. It has a lot to offer as the nation's second largest financial center and a major location for over 70 foreign corporation's US or regional headquarters. As a major hub for US Airways, the city has direct flights to numerous US metropolitan cities and International capitals abroad.
Charlotte and Mecklenburg County is divided into 9 areas, each starting in "Uptown Charlotte" and extending outward in a pie shaped form for each. We have described each below to give you an idea of the perimeter of each and you can visit the CMLS Map to view the areas. You will also be able to search one or all the areas at one time on the map page.
Area 1 - North This area runs north up I77 from downtown Charlotte to the south end of Iredell County north of exit 30, I77 at Davidson then east to the Cabarrus County line, and then south along Route #29/N. Tryon Rd to Uptown Charlotte. This area includes listings from the towns of Huntersville, Cornelius, and Davidson. Area 2 - East This area runs northeast up N. Tryon Rd. from its intesection with #I277 and Central Ave. to the Cabarrus County line then SE along the county lines to Albemarle Rd. then west on Albemarle Rd (#24 and #27) and Central Avenue to the beginning point at #I277 and N. Tryon St.
Area 3 - Southeast The area runs southeast from the intersection of Central Avenue and Independence near uptown Charlotte east along Central Avenue and Albemarle Rd (#24/27) to the Cabarrus County line and then SW along the Union County line to Independence Blvd, #74, then NW up Independence Blvd. to the point of beginning to uptown Charlotte.
Area 4 - South Southeast The area runs southeast from I277 in Uptown Charlotte south down Independence Blvd. to the Union County line, then SW along the county lines to Route #16, and then north up Providence Rd. (Route#16) to the point of beginning.
Area 5 - South The area runs from the intersection of Kenilworth Ave and E. 3rd St near "Uptown Charlotte" South along Providence Rd/#16 to the Union County line and then West to Lancaster Hwy and North on Lancaster to Pineville - Matthews Rd and left North at Park Rd and on up to 3rd St at the North point.
Area 6 - South Southwest The area runs south from I277 in uptown Charlotte along Kenilworth Ave and Park Rd on the East side then west on Pineville-Matthews Rd. then south on Lancaster Hwy then NW along the Lancaster and York County lines and then NE along I277 to uptown Charlotte.
Area 7 - Southwest The area runs SW from the intersection of I277 and Wilkinson Blvd near Uptown Charlotte along I277 and the York County line to McKee Rd then north up Youngblood Rd. and Shopton Rd. and along the eastern shore of Lake Wylie to Wilkinson Blvd then east to I277 and the point of beginning.
Area 8 - West The area runs NW from Uptown Charlotte along Brookshire Blvd (Route #16) on the east side then SW from it's intersection with Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd. to the Gaston County line and then south along the county ines to Wilkinson Blvd and then east to I77.
Area 9 - Northwest The area runs north up I77 from Uptown Charlotte at the intersection of I77 and Brookshire Blvd. (Route#16) to the southeast corner of Lake Norman just north of exit 25 on US I77 between Huntersville and Cornelius then west to the Catawba River on route #73 (Sam Furr Rd.), and then south along Neck Rd, east on Mt. Holly Huntersville Rd, and then SE on Brookshire Blvd. This area contains the Beaties Ford Rd corridor. Latta Plantation, McGuire Nuclear Power Plant with its Exploenergy Museum are main attractions. Northlake Mall at exit 18 on I77 provides a major regional shopping experience.
Area 99 - Uptown The area is called Uptown Charlotte at the intersection of I77 and I277. The residential areas are within the center of the Interstate Route #277 loop that acts as a beltway around the core area of town where financial giants, Wachovia and Bank of America, have their national headquarters within walking distance. It's all about living, shopping, and working close by.
